This report describes the results of a longitudinal analysis of data collected from a sample of post-9/11 US Veterans. Using four waves of data collected over a year, the research team tested three competing hypotheses (i.e., social selection, social causation, and reciprocal causation) pertaining to social functioning, mental health, and problematic alcohol use.
